Warm Brains (Rory Attwell) are playing their last show for a while. His album ‘Old Volcanoes’ was stuck on Ben’s turntable for weeks and remains a favourite. Supporting him will be Marshall Teller label mates Novella, who featured on the Marshall Teller four way split 12” (mouthful!) alongside Echo Lake, Gross Magic and The History Of Apple Pie. We adore all four bands but on the night expect some lo-fi shoegaze pop from Novella. Also supporting Warm Brains are Grass House who have released their single ‘Faun’ which is definitely worth a listen! Anyway all this excitement is happening at Madame JoJo’s on the 24th.
Meanwhile in Brooklyn, Leah Hayes (Scary Mansion) has been busy making new music and has posted a new track on soundcloud which we were insanely excited about. Scary Mansion got a lot of attention in 2009 for their dark synth pop cover of ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun‘. Since then Scary Mansion have released their second album Make Me Cry, which featured this cover, and have collaborated with Darwin Deez on his tongue in cheek rap mixtape, which is actually quite good. We hope this new track is the first of a new record and will get a lot of plays over the next few days from us!
Real Estate have released a video for ‘Easy’ which is the first track on their recent album ‘Days’. The video shows a Real Estate street team do all they can, really like all they can, to get Real Estate heard. Courtesy of Funny Or Die, this video accompanies the song really well and if you have never listened to Real Estate before is a perfect introduction.
Nikon have put out exciting news recently, as in the camera company not an obscure band you haven’t heard of. They have announced the D4, which is capable of taking 11 frames per second, HD video and even has illuminated buttons! Obviously it won’t be cheap but from the video tour they’ve posted it looks pretty good.
Blackberry is taking over the world and Blackberry Messenger being one of the main reasons for its success in the market. The free messenging service is highly addictive but can leave you talking nearly exclusively to those with Blackberry’s, sounds crazy but it has happened to a lot of our friends. Luckily for those who want to contact everyone in a similar style there is Kik Messenger. Kik is similar to BBM but is available for free in the android market, and apple app store. Accounts are easy to set up and the app is really easy to use and is of course free, so you have nothing to lose!
